Why are Republicans considered racist?

i can answer this one. most blacks used to be republicans because of Abraham Lincoln. but when the civil rights movement came along republicans of that time were shouting segragation now segragation tomorrow and segragation forever. while John F Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson came in to end it so blacks started switching parties. Martin Luther King went to the white house meeting jfk and Lyndon Johnson many times. so because of the civil rights movement republicans are now looked upon as racists. and yes your correct the democrats were supporting the kkk in the 1850s. but now the kkk usualy backs republicans. so after the civil rights movement republicans are called racists
