Why do English call people Pedophiles?

Well, sadly but honestly, most Americans are an ignorant bunch. Being hypocritical kind of comes with the package I suppose. Don't worry, it doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. As for the18th birthday concept, that's more of a legal adult, than a mental adult. Just like anywhere else, becoming an adult is something internal.
