How dirty or dangerous of a job is sterile processing?

I have a background in veterinary technology, where I am often responsbile for sterilizing and packaging vet. surgery instruments. I enjoy this task and am therefore considering sterile processing. However, although I know I can handle animal blood and bodily fluids, I am somewhat aprehensive about handling large amounts of human blood and other waste products. As a sterile processing tech am I really going to handle large amounts of blood or other things like vomit, feces, ect ? I guess my fear is that I will be handed buckets full of vomit, blood, feces, or body parts along with the instruments. What should I expect?

Should I switch from oil to corn for home heating?

Okay, so I have this ancient steam boiler/furnace (c. 1930's, originally coal, converted c. 1950's to oil) that needs to be replaced (due to cracked chamber). I have a 3500 sq. foot victorian row house. Little to no insulation. My heating cost for four months at about 300 gallons per month was $4500 this season (2007-2008). I can get a new oil furnace at no cost to me (fuel istance program), with probably another $4500 fuel bill (although oil will cost more, my efficiency will increase), or try to get a loan for about a $8,000 corn pellet boiler system that will cost about $1500 for the season in fuel. This is a big investment either way (and there's no guarantee I'll get the loan, because I'm low income). Any suggestions?

How do I handle a stalker?

not really a 'stalker' in a criminal sense, but weird nonetheless. Pokemon Firered EV training... I'm a noob?

Ok. This is my first attempt to EV train a pokemon. I have not beaten the Elite 4 yet, but I am trying to EV train my Aerodactyl for attack. It has a docile nature, which, i think, is neutral. I have an idea of how to EV train, but I'm not completely sure how to yet. From what I underestand, you fight certain types of pokemon, regardless of trainer battle or wild pokemon battle, that will give certain amounts of EVs to a certain stat. When you level up, you will gain more stat points in that area. Is that right? I just want to make sure that you can train against other NPC trainer pokemon and that I am not wasting my time by fighting this biker with a machop and machamp over and over. Can you please explain how to EV train or let me know if my understanding is correct? I also want to know what the best place to train for attack is. Thank you

you can plant any hardy low light plant in your tank ... hornwort, java fern (don't bury the roots on this one, attach to rocks or driftwood) and java moss would be fine ... anubias would be good and they are very hardy and readily available ... amazon swords are also hardy and nice looking plant ... just plant them in the gravel like the gravel is soil ... most aquatic plants will do perfectly fine growing in gravel only ... i would suggest a fertilizer ... with a fertilizer your plants will thrive and without not so much ... you can buy fertilizer that you push into the substrate or you can get liquids that you add after a water change ... if you have live plants, it is a good idea to put a new bulb in every year ... you don't really need any high tech plant bulb, just a regular bulb, but your plants will do better with a newish bulb ...

10 month old keeps vomiting?

My ten month old keeps vomiting up like a creamy white liquid and its ALOT! Sometimes it's projectile and sometimes it's not. She does it about 3 or 4 times a day. Yes I do - their banter is funny! And I will always love Luke! They make an excellent couple and they truly do love one another! I loved seeing Luke more than 2 minutes on the show. He actually had some of his great old lines (but they were new ones). I know black parade is sure alot different than bullets was, but have they ever dissapointed you before? They're a great band, and they always will be. But it's sure not coming to an end soon. If you sew the blocks together and only put the 2 1/2" strip on the outside, and uming you are using the traditional 1/4" seam allowance, the quilt should be 76.5" x 91" (that's 5 blocks wide and 6 blocks long). If you use the 2 1/2" as sashing between all the blocks and on the outside of the blocks, the finished quilt size will be 84.5" x 101". Remember, you are using 1/2" of each block as a seam allowance, so the finished block will be 14.5" wide and the strips will be 2" wide when finished sewing. I hope that helps.

How can I get my fiance to wear makeup?

I really need some help with my relationship. I love my fiancé very much, the trouble is, sometimes I am not very attracted to her. Let me explain. She is a beautiful girl, but she just does not accentuate herself by wearing makeup. Just for comparisons sake (and not to sound shallow, but just to illiterate a point) I would rate her looks at a B+. I would rate my looks at an A (I work out a lot, eat very well, keep very active and dress nicely). So when she really dolls herself up she looks great, but it’s not that often. The thing is though that there are other girls out there who flirt with me who are better looking, dress nicely and wear makeup. I do not want to be with those girls though, I do love my fiancé and I do not consider myself to be shallow, I really am a nice guy. I just wish my girl would try harder for me. My fiancé went to the spa treatment and said she got a lot of constructive ideas and had a great time. She looked beautiful when she returned home and I of course told her that she looked gorgeous. She did put make up on the next morning. I thought my plan had worked but the next day…no makeup. The day after that…no makeup. I brought it up to her and said “what no makeup today?” She said “no, I feel like I am wearing a mask”. I said “would you like to try some more sensitive make up for your skin if it is irritating you?” She said “no, makeup is ok but only on special occasions; I don’t want to wear it every day.” I tried being positive and telling her that I noticed that she smiled more when she has it on and that there is a spring in her step when she wears it and that she said herself that she feels more confident with it on. I even told her that it is important to wear it because of the SPF content because the area that we live in is very sunny. I did not dare say that I wanted her to wear makeup so I could be more attracted to her. In the past I have even told her that I have dated girls who are not as pretty as her, but that carry themselves well, dress nicely, and wear makeup. After all of this she still has not taken the hint. It’s not like I want her to wear a ton of make up like that scary lady from the 1980’s Tammy Faye Baker, I just wish she would make more of an effort day to day. Why am I not losing weight?

I have been dieting and working out for 19 days now. I want to lose 10 pounds this summer! I am taking this really seriously so I've cut refined sugar out of my diet. I haven't had it in 19 days. Along with that I have been basically only eating veggies, fruits, chicken, eggs, turkey, almonds, and wheat bread. I only drink water. I have gotten back to when I don't eat after 7 at night. I try to workout everyday. I have a gym membership and I have been getting on the treadmill almost an hour everyday along with arm exercises. I try to burn at least 400 calories a day or even more. Today I burned 500 calories. BUT I haven't lost one pound. I weighed myself yesterday and I weighed the exact amount I did before I started. How can this be?? I am 5'6 and currently weigh 142 pounds...arg! I just want to go back to school feeling more confident and slimmer. :(

But it is you who have to decide to take those first baby steps and trust. Okay, a bit of venting on my part. Can McCain actually discuss an issue? It seems all he knows how to do is mock Obama. It takes a lot of nerve to put out a commercial like that. And, I have seen some dirty campaigning in my time but McCain's last couple of commercials really take the cake. First, there was the Hilton/Spears thing. He could have used Oprah or some other famous black person. The fact is he didn't. He used two white women to stoke some racial feelings that some have within this country. To me, this commercial was reminescent of one I saw during a senatorial race down in Tennessee-it is little better. I thought it was racist then and I still feel the same way. It may be latent but it is most certainly there. Quite frankly, this is a disgusting commercial. Absolutely disgusting. I have one other question regarding McCain. Why is he trying to split this country by race; is it the only way he can win? And, if pitting American against American, is the only way you can win; is it really worth it? I will be honest I used to hold McCain in fairly high regard but no more. I've had the same dream about the world ending a couple of times now. There was a huge earthquake and then a tsunami. People started panicking and then aliens came down in spaceships and saved us. I wake up every time right when we're about to land on their planet. It looks like Earth except there is no people on it. Oh, my dream always begins with me waking up and looking at the calendar. I don't think it is laziness, I think these people like the sense of connection they get when their questions are answered by often more than one person.For people who have no-one to ask these seemingly innane questions, the results must be gratifying.I will answer questions that are easily googled in the hope that the person that asked the question gets the feeling that someone cares about their question and them.Some people don't know how easy it is to get facts from google, some wont know how to google, some may not like "talking" to a computer but feel at ease when they know it is real people that will answer them.At the end of the day it makes no difference...don't answer if it annoys you.

Do you think that the bond you have with your horse is more important that the training?

I got a six year old thoroughbred mare about six months ago. I spend hugh amounts of time just sitting in her stall or out in pasture or grooming her and just getting to know her. I ride her about three times a week..with proper warm up time and cool down time. She so good for me and she always willing to do things for me with no attuide. but at my barn there is a few riders who spend no time grooming or caring for there horses and just hop on and ride with no warm up or cool down time. Their horses are worth six thousand to eleven thousand and with upper level training but their horses are always grouchy and irritable and they misbehave constantly, my horse is green and cost way way less than that and has had basically no training. I just wondering if its because they don't spend any time because when they let me try their horses when they are gone they are a dream but I spend a lot of time grooming and caring for them. Whats your opinion?

When my boyfriend and i first got together 6 months ago i have never been happier. he said he wanted to be with me forever and that i was the one. We met through a friend and didn't know each other that well and after only 2 weeks of speaking we started going out. It just felt right. He has this thing about listening and he is very uptight with it. Sometimes i'll interupt by accident or switch off for a split second and he yells at me and calls me names. We have sat each other down and discussed this yet he says i still dont listen to him and the reason why he shouts is because i anger him and he says he is nasty as hes angry but its only because he cares. We had one night out for my friends birthday and we both had a bit to drink. I don't even know why we argued so much but he smashed my phone up and bit me on the arm. I reacted and hit him back and also broke his phone. I think if i was sober i wouldnt of acted that way though. On holiday in June we had another row because he said i was wearing too much makeup and threw stuff round the room in front of me. At times he is the lovliest guy in the world but apparently if i dont listen he turns into this awful person. The final straw was the saturday just gone. We'd been having problems and he kept threatning to end it. Then he came home from uni in newcastle on friday to my house as it was my birthday. We went out for a meal with my family and it was lovely. Saturday morning though he turned on me saying i was wearing too much makeup again and i really didnt think i was. Then at night time before we went out for my bithday night out with all my friends he kept saying he was tired and acting like he just didnt want to go out. once we were out he met all my friends (some he has met before) but didnt really make much effort. He then had a go at me about the fact i had been mean to him earlier when we were both just having a laugh about the fact its soon his brithday and hes getting old being 22. He has friends from his home town in Leeds like me and it was one of their brithday nights out too so i agreed itd be nice to meet up. However they couldnt get into bars we could as they were all guys and we had a mixture of girls and boys. So because of that i had to change where we all went even though it was my birthday night out. He ended up having a go at me calling me names again and being so nasty resulting in me getting upset. Then he was fine again, Next bar i hugged a friend who arrived to meet us and he went mad at me and began yelling in front of everyone. some of my friends stepped in and he left me crying on my night out while he carried on with his. I went home and called him constantly begging him to come back to mine to talk but he wouldnt. Now he says its over and i do love him. but i know he has done wrong to me.
